It wasn’t until 2015 that their friendship blossomed into something more, with Jonathan visiting Marinell in Calgary. By June 4, 2018, they officially became a couple. Shortly after, Jonathan made the big move from Montreal to Calgary, driving across the country to start their life together.

Fast forward to December 21, 2022—just one day before Marinell’s 40th birthday. The scene was set in the vibrant city of Las Vegas at the Linq/High Roller Ferris wheel. Marinell had no idea what was about to happen; she thought they were simply there to celebrate her birthday and enjoy the breathtaking views of the Vegas strip.
Little did she know, Jonathan had been meticulously planning this moment for six months. He was nervous, to say the least, but determined to make this moment unforgettable. Marinell’s sister, her husband, and two close friends were also in on the surprise, all pretending to take in the sights while secretly waiting for the big moment.
As the Ferris wheel made its way around, Marinell was busy soaking in the sunset and the dazzling lights of Vegas. It was then that Jonathan seized the opportunity. With a pounding heart, he dropped to one knee and asked the love of his life to marry him. Marinell, caught off guard by the surprise, felt a rush of excitement and joy. Without hesitation, she said YES!
