Savannah & Michael’s Banff Elopement | High School Sweethearts Married in the Mountains by Tanan
On a cold October morning, surrounded by yellow larch trees and snow-capped peaks, Savannah & Michael tied the knot in the breathtaking mountain town of Banff, Alberta. What began years ago as playful teasing in a high school biology class turned into a lifelong love story — one that found its perfect ending (and beginning) in the Canadian Rockies.
Traveling from Edmonton with their closest friends and family, Savannah and Michael wanted a ceremony that felt relaxed, personal, and full of laughter. Their oldest friend shared heartfelt words, and even though their beloved cats, Shades and Jeremiah, couldn’t be there, they were lovingly mentioned during the vows — a reminder of the cozy home these two have built together.
🌲 A Morning to Remember
The crisp air, golden trees, and the soft dusting of snow created a scene straight out of a postcard. Despite the chill, the morning was filled with warmth — in their smiles, their laughter, and the way they looked at each other. Savannah’s best friend, Kemi Lo, proudly gave her away, marking a touching moment before the couple exchanged vows as husband and wife.
💍 Their Story
Their journey began back in Ontario, where they met as high school classmates who couldn’t seem to stand each other. Michael, the class clown, was always teasing Savannah — until one day, in biology class, a playful insult about her shoes made their teacher laugh and say, “He’s trying to say he likes you.”
A month before graduation, their friends canceled a movie night, leaving just the two of them to watch Iron Man together. After a night of playful arguing, Michael leaned over and kissed Savannah mid-sentence — and they’ve been inseparable ever since.
Years later, they didn’t need a grand proposal. As Savannah describes it:
“There was never any question that needed to be asked. We’ve known for over a decade that we wanted to be married.”
One July morning, they simply looked at each other and decided — Thanksgiving weekend in the mountains. And just like that, they made it happen.
